While we are continuing to keep bees at Steve Normanton's Farm, we decided to get some new bees for our own farm. All hives are starting off very strong this year. The queens are very busy so we decided to give them some sugar water (organic of course!) for the worker bees to use to pull out comb on the frames. This will allow the queen to have a place to lay her eggs much faster. As they fill up the frames with more bees and honey, we will be adding a box on top until that one is full. Bees like to build their colony from the bottom up and while the hives looks a little short now, they will be tall hives by summer's end.

It's a family affair...
All hands on deck - especially on a windy day. We recruited kids, neighbors, nieces and nephews to layout and shovel dirt along the entire edge of the row covers. We could get an attachment for our tractor but then everyone would miss out on the fun!

Strawberry Fields
Now that "the girls" have done their job tilling up the soil , preparing the new strawberry beds were easy. The pigs certainly do the heavy lifting in no time at all!

Meet the Girls...
Introducing Rosary or "Rosie" for short, Starlight, Isabelle and Tulip all affectionately named by our two youngest girls. Rosie and Star are in a "piggy way" and we should have little piglets running around in a couple of weeks. Isabelle and Tulip are searching for their suitor.

We have a new home
We are moving! After 3 years of looking, 4 offers, and many ups and downs we have finally found the place to dig in to - literally. We are back up and running and will be ready to serve you this season. While we look forward to breaking ground and bringing this farm back to life, we will not be committing to the traditional CSA. Instead as a THANK YOU for your patience and in an effort to establish ourselves in a new community, we will be offering you weekly organic vegetable packages for a discounted price for this season only. Packages will be limited so it will be first come first serve. If you want to reserve these packages, please send us an email. We will also be offering some items a la carte. We will do our best to keep information about what we have available and when, through our website. We look forward to serving you!
